Callabonna Uranium on track to drill large uranium anomaly at Five Mile Creek

Callabonna Uranium (ASX: CUU) is all set to begin drilling at the Five Mile Creek prospect to follow up on a Mobile Metal Ion survey which identified a large uranium anomaly.Will all necessary permits received, drilling at Five Mile Creek is expected to begin in early April 2012. The drilling contract have been awarded to Adelaide-based Underdale Drilling.

No previous exploration holes contain been drilled in the area or nearby.A total of 22 drill holes are planned over the difference which is 4,000 metres long and up to 1,000 metres wide.Drilling will test the mineralisation to conclude whether it contains ore grade uranium at a mineable thickness.

With nearby granite outcrops containing secondary uranium, proving the being there of a local uranium source, Callabonna is hopeful of finding near surface concentration.The Arunta Mt Denison project, which includes Five Mile Creek, is situated 250 kilometres northwest of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.

Uranium Resources begins key drilling programme at Mtonya in Tanzania

Uranium Resources (LON:URA) has in progress its key 2012 drilling programme on the Mtonya Project in southern Tanzania.The programme will look to build on a 2011 programme that recognized multiple uranium roll-front type deposits at depth.Tom Elder, an analyst at broker WH Ireland said newly that the 100 per cent-owned Mtonya could be a “company making” project, if it proves to be like to Uranium One’s Nyota deposit, which is in a similar part of Tanzania.

This year’s drilling will include 20,000 metres of open-hole and diamond-core drilling.The aims of the programme are to test the roll-fronts recognized in tier 2 at depths of 240-260 metres; identify and found geometries for roll-fronts in tier 1 at depths of 170-200 metres; and test for uranium mineralisation in tier 3 at depths of 300-320 metres.

Uranium Resources will use numerous drill rigs simultaneously with part of the fleet to target tight-spaced drilling with a view of establishing a maiden resource estimate. The other rigs will be extending the previously known roll-fronts laterally.The 2011 drilling and results of the recent mineralogical studies advise similarities with the well-known sandstone-hosted roll-front uranium deposits of Kazakhstan and the USA, the company added.

Energy Ventures kicks off metallurgical testing at Aurora uranium project in Oregon

Energy Ventures (ASX: EVE) has commence a program of metallurgical testing on mineralisation beginning its Aurora uranium project in southeast Oregon, USA, as part of the company’s continuing feasibility assessment of the deposit.

The testing represents the first stage in developing a full process flowsheet for the uranium mineralisation at Aurora, which is the company’s mainly advanced development opportunity, and is designed to purify the understanding of material handling, comminution processes and liberation of uranium.

The company is also look at potential opportunities for beneficiation of the mineralisation at Aurora which has possible for shallow open pit mining, and expect results of the first stage of testwork in October 2011.

Toro Energy comes up trumps as Theseus turns into major uranium discovery
