In his public submission, as part of the EPA approval progression Senator Ludlam says there are a series of unanswered questions regarding the company's planned mine in WA's northern Goldfields.
Toro Energy is seeking environmental support for what could become WA's first uranium mine Senator Ludlam says there are serious flaws in the company's plans,"The company is proposing to leave at the rear in the landscape tens of million of tonnes of very thinly powered carcinogenic radioactive waste and they are asking the taxpayer to take on that charge 10 years after the mine closes," he said.
"For them to do that, they then need to put up a credible proposal for how that substance is going to be isolated from people and the surroundings for tens of thousands of years and they haven't even made an attempt to do that."
