Uranium not only destroys the human beings but also destroys the nature

Indian minister recommends deforestation around uranium mines to decrease the environmental degradation. Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment Mr. Jairam Ramesh had laid emphasis on massive tree plantation around mines in the country to struggle the dangers of environmental degradation in such areas and sought a proposal in this regard from scientists in the field. He also suggested that the serious measures need to be taken for environment protection around mines specially those of uranium, iron ore and limestone. Expressing concern over the dangers of carbon emission, he suggested that the process of deforestation should be implemented as soon as possible to deal with the situation.

Dispersion of uranium metal

Uranium metal can easily disperse into the air and water, report by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

"The main concern is the potential for future groundwater contamination by corroding penetrators (ammunition tips made out of depleted uranium) and the munition tips improved by the UNEP team had already decreased in mass by 10-15% in this way. This rapid corrosion speed underlines the importance of monitoring the water quality at the depleted uranium sites on an annual basis."
